YouTube has risen up from being a little startup company before being acquired by Google, to becoming one of the most biggest media behemoth and one of the top sites on the Web in terms of visitors and uploads.

According to a report, YouTube just celebrated their 7th year anniversary with a bang. Time flies, don't you think?

But what is YouTube and why is it so popular with the masses? Well, YouTube is now undoubtedly the premiere video-sharing resource site on the planet. The company is based in California, and uses Adobe Flash video and HTML 5 technology to display a wide variety of user-generated video content, including short videos, video blogging, TV clips, movie clips, and of course, music videos.

Additionally, YouTube lets even unregistered users watch videos, while registered users can upload an unlimited number of videos.

The company reports and now boasts an average of 72 hours of video upload every minute, while both registered and non-registered users watch over 3 billion hours of media content on the site every month! Wow!

YouTube was originally created by three former PayPal employees and the company was bought by Google in 2006 for $1.65 billion.

Congratulations to YouTube staffers and the Google management for this great achievement in the history of video-sharing category.
